Ode to R-Guh: I’m Always There Connie Zhang, '23 You know who am I? Someone who is always there. But not with any random guy, Just my brother I have to share. I was there when you got an award To be honest I was always pretty bored, It was tall, black, pointy, and had stars But it showed that you had really gone far. I was there all the time when you watched anime, Half the time I really didn’t want to stay, “Is there anymore popcorn?” “I kinda ate it all…” too bad I was too shy to say I was there when you graduated college, I fell asleep, but I was still there! I was there when you dragged the chair, And when Mom gave you her signature glare. I was there when you had been switching the light, Standing on the bed was a funny sight. I was there when you poured the welcome smoothie, Too bad it lumped out like slime, so gooey. I was there when you argued, I was there when you laughed, I was there when you sighed, I was there when you talked- STOP! I was always there, I was always here, I tried my best to be always everywhere. All good things, come to an end, Does that mean this was good? Since it eventually did descend? Here’s the fact, the fast forceful fact, I am not there as much anymore. I’m not there when you work I’m not there when you eat I’m not there when you laugh, nor sleep, so bitter—but sweet. Yet at least I’ll always be somewhere, You’ll know I’ll always be out there, That’s better than nowhere, Even if I’m elsewhere, So please brother, take care.
