Dunescape
Colin Howe, '16

Waves tumbled onto the shore
Brutal intensity, swiss clockwork
Keeping the time of the beach
Each crest brings new life, only to pull
away leaving longing in its place

A gull circles overhead, watching,
its grey plumage matching sky
a cloud of ash amongst the coals
Thin spindles of flame still
lingering on the horizon

And the sea of beaten grass
trampled by time, holding,
onto every precious grain of sand,
rippling in the soft breath of the ocean
Speaking in a soft whisper of its secrets
