It Starts in the Eyes\nMadie Phillips, '23\n\nFloating in seas of white,\nThey become heavy\nMarbles. The weight\nOf the world, of constant\nObservation, held\nWithin. And even the\nBluest become the most\nTurbulent of oceans; the\nDeepest of browns\nBecome the rockiest\nOf mountaintops.\n\nbut soon those\nellipses cannot\ncontain the weight\nanymore. it spreads\ndownward and begins\nits pollution, the marbles\ntoo heavy, exhausting\nthe foundation below\nas it turns to the ashy gray\nof crumbling cobble-\n                                  stones, the purple of a\n                                                        wilting iris.\n\nIt starts in the eyes,\nin the absorbers of\nhumanity and its\ntribulations, before\nengulfing the rest of the\nexterior: the slouching\nand the yawning and\nthe sighing.
