A Garden\r\nAmanda Henderson, '16\r\n\r\nHere we have a Chrysanthemum.\r\nA dark haired teen\r\nclumsily trying to get to class on time \r\nand the young lady across the room\r\nis Lavender\r\nwhile her mother is a graceful White Rose.\r\nAnd yet the young girl\r\nsitting on the side of the road in the frigid evening\r\na cigarette lit in her dry lips\r\nfeels like a Dandelion in someone's lawn\r\nmore than anything else.\r\nIs the girl\r\nwith the boxing gloves\r\nand sweat dripping down the back of her neck\r\nStinging nettle?\r\nOr is the 9 year old girl\r\nwith the long ponytail\r\nleaping into the cool lake water\r\nmore like seaweed?\r\nIs the grumpy brunette\r\nfitting for pretty chains of daisies\r\nthat swirl around children's heads?\r\nAnd don't forget\r\nthe lonely girl in the red shoes \r\nwho wishes more than anything \r\nto be the grass under her own feet. \r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
